Chapter One

The shopping district of the Ragol colony was busy with activity, a normal sight for those who frequent the number of different businesses within this small part of the colony.

By the old calendar, it is also 2 days until a certain holiday. Men and Women alike are all out shopping for that special person in their lives. Among this crowd is Mike and Lara BlackHawk.

"You'll completely blow Mike's mind with that, Lara," a store clerk tells the newman hunter, "it compliments your figure very well."

"I don't know, Marnie," Lara answers as she holds the slinky garmet up to her, "Does this come with a bodyguard?"

"Like you need a guard," Marnie jokes, "You have your husband, and that huge android. What's his name? Galveris?"

"Yes, but he's out with the girls and Maya on a quest,"the HUnewearl replies, "They'll be gone for a few more days. Mike and I have had the house to ourselves for 3 days."

"I'll bet it's driving you crazy too, isn't it?"

"Oh, quite the opposite, actually. Mike and I haven't had any time alone for a long time, and we're enjoying this."

Elsewhere, Mike BlackHawk was looking around in the local jeweler's shop. He wanted to get that special gift for his wife, but couldn't quite make up his mind.

"This is for your wife, I'll assume," the clerk asks.
"Yes. We've been married for about 20 years now, and I want to do something special. I know she loves blue topaz."

With that informaton, the clerk shows Mike several different items. Mike makes up his mind on a chain w/matching earrings. He hands the clerk the meseta for his purchase.

"I want this to be special," Mike thinks to himself as he walks through the shopping district, "This is the first time we've had any real time alone since the girls were born." Mike thinks for a while, before an idea hits his mind. Just then, he notices Lara on the walkway, waiting for him. He puts the small box in his coat pocket as she jumps right into his arms.

"Guess I got here just in time," the HUmar jokes, "You're sure in a good mood."

"I guess it's just the season," Lara comments, "And the fact that we've still got 5 more days before Maya, Galveris and the girls get back." She gives Mike a slight wink as the two head back to their home in Skyly sector.

Chapter Two

It was after 10am on the morning of St. Valentine's Day & Lara had decided to sleep in. She rose to find that Mike had already set out for a while.

"If I know him," she thinks to herself, "He's probably going out of his way to make tonight special." She smiles just a bit as she bats around ideas in her mind. "That's just like him," she continues, "Well, I really should get my hair done, and maybe pick out a dress for tonight." It's at that moment that Lara spots a white gown in her closet, which takes her into her memories.

Lara is standing near a back wall of the observation deck of Pioneer 2. It is the annual guild gala, where the hunters gather every year for apparently no reason whatsoever. She is bored out of her mind, watching all these people just stand there, chatting, dancing, and acting like members of the celebrity class.
She then spots a blonde-haired human man standing by himself too. He looked as bored as she was, almost like he didn't want to be there. She walks over and drags him onto the dance floor. A short dance later, she starts to enjoy the party. At the end of the night she agrees to meet the HUmar back here the next day.

"That was 20 years and two children ago," the HUnewearl reminds herself, "Yet it doesn't feel that long. I guess it wouldn't if every day was like it is in this marriage." She pulls the gown out of the closet and tries it on, wondering if it will still fit after all these years.

"I guess being a hunter has helped me keep my figure in shape," Lara says, amazed, "Now I know what I'm wearing out tonight." She then puts the dress back in her closet and gets ready to go out herself, and prepare for her night out with her husband.

Elsewhere, Mike BlackHawk is checking around for a suit. As he browses the selection at the men's shop, his mind goes back in time. "Doesn't feel like 20 years," he thinks, "Almost feels like just yesterday that we just met It was the guild gala. We actually had our first date that next day."

Mike managed to get Lara's address from the guild clerk that morning, saying her was going to get he to help on a quest. He shows up at the door to a very small apartment, with a couple of roses in one hand, and a basket in the other.

Lara answers the door, shocked to see that a HUMAN was not only there to see HER, but also that he brought flowers too. She wonders what was in the basket, but guesses that that was for later. Smiling, she takes Mike's arm and the two head from her residence in Purplenum sector to the makeshift park in the central block of Pioneer 2's city ship, called "Dezo". A three hour picnic, and a walk by the man-made waterfall later, and the afternoon wasted away.

"That was the day Lara moved in with me and Maya," Mike thinks to himself as he picks out a new tux, "This night won't last forever, but it'll be a special one, that's for sure."

It's 6:30pm as Lara arrives home from getting her hair done, and other preparations made. She had even picked out a gift for Mike. As she sets everything in place, and starts to get ready, she thinks back to the day of their wedding.

She was standing in front of a full length mirror, as the last alterations were being made to her gown. She looked calm, but the butterflies were already fluttering a mile a minute. She couldn't get her adoptive "father", Prof. Greene, to walk her down the aisle. He was too busy with research to be bothered. She hated him for that too. A friend of hers filled in for him, though. After her gown was ready, she looked down the aisle to see Mike, and all the nervousness just faded.

Mike, on the other hand, got home around 5:00pm, and was getting into his tux when Lara walked in. "Still as lovely as when I married her," he thinks to himself, then starts remembering that very day.

"Will you relax," Nakago tells Mike, "You're getting married, not facing a firing squad. Here, hand me that tie." He grabs the tie from the prospective groom's hand and starts to tie it.

"For a second there," the ranger, Blak Wolf, jokes, "I thought you always wore clip-ons, Naka." That joke brings a laugh to the whole group of men.

With his tie finished, Mike and his party headed into the main hall, where he awaited Lara's arrival. He can hardly contain his nerves when the music starts. When Lara steps through the doorway, though, only one thing comes to his mind, "Holy cow, I'm marrying a goddess."

It's now 8:00pm. Mike looks up the stairs of their home to see Lara coming down, in the dress she wore when they first met. He offers her his arm, which she graciously takes and the two head out for an evening they probably won't forget for another twenty years.
